The 2010 Ryder Cup Awards

Golf, of course, was the real winner this week (and the people who decided to charge four quid for a bacon roll), but here’s the best of the rest…
European Of The Week - Graeme McDowell, who else? Wales Open title: check. U.S Open winner: check. Ryder Cup hero: check. After the year G-Mac’s had, it was only right that he was the one to seal the deal.
Yank Of The Week - Rickie Fowler. Sure, Cink and Stricker played better than him overall, but the 21-year-old’s late burst on Monday was really special. We’ve got one helluva future Ryder Cup player on our hands, folks.
Chant Of The Week - ‘There’s only one Molinari, one Molinari, one Molinaaaari!’ By the end of play, however, that was changed to: ‘There’s only two Molinaris, two Molinaris, two Molinaaaaris!’
Hero Of The Week - The Celtic Manor. Despite the weather, everyone at the resort worked their arses off to make this Ryder Cup a success. The course was in fantastic nick, the atmosphere incredible, staff friendly and stewards helpful. Go ahead and take Tuesday off. You guys have earned it…
Line Of The Week - ‘How many birdies today Tiger?’, shouted one fan to Woods on the first tee on Monday. Cue awkward silence from the galleries.
Highlight Of The Week - Tossing Edoardo Molinari up in the air on the 17th green like an Italian pizza base. A moment I’ll never forget.
Idiot Of The Week - Lisa Pavin. What a howler she had with the waterproofs episode. And they say women are supposed to be fashion experts?
